Implementation of Mosre Framework for a Web Application - A Case Study

P.Salini and S.Kanmani, Pondicherry Engineering College,India

ABSTRACT

The Security Engineering discipline has become more and more important in the recent years. Security requirements engineering is essential to assure the Quality of the resulting software. An increasing part of the communication and sharing of information in our society utilize Web Applications. Last two years have seen a significant surge in the amount of Web Application specific vulnerabilities that are disclosed to the public because of the importance of Security Requirements Engineering for Web based systems and as it is still underestimated. Integration of Web and object technologies offer a foundation for expanding the Web to a new generation of applications. In this paper, we outline our proposed Model- Oriented Security Requirement Engineering (MOSRE) Framework for Web Applications. By applying Object-Oriented technologies and modeling to Security Requirement phase. So the completeness, consistency, traceability and reusability of Security Requirements can be cost effectively improved. We implemented our MOSRE Framework for E-Voting Application and set of Security Requirements are identified.

Scope & Topics

Web Service Computing is a recent evolution in Distributed Computing series and it is an emerging and fast growing paradigm in the present scenario. Web Service Computing is a diversified discipline suite that related to the technologies of Business Process Integration and Management, Grid / Utility / Cloud Computing paradigms, autonomic computing, as well as the business and scientific applications. It applies the theories of Science and Technology for bridging the gap between Business Services and IT Services. Service oriented computing addresses how to enable the technology to help people to perform business processes more efficiently and effectively, ultimately resulting in creating WIN-WIN strategy between the business organizations and end users. The greatest significance of the web services is their interoperability, which allows businesses to dynamically publish, discover, and aggregate a range of Web services through the Internet to more easily create innovative products, business processes and value chains both from organization and end user points of views. Due to these, this cross discipline attracts the variety of researchers from various disciplines to conduct the versatile research and experiments in this area.

From these perspectives, this International Journal on Web Service Computing (IJWSC) is a quarterly open access peer-reviewed journal aims to act as a research platform to share and explore the main issues in Web Service Computing by publishing the current trends & technologies and research methods in the associated fields and thereby to promote the related research community.

An Extended Model for Effective Migrating Parallel Web Crawling with Domain Specific and Incremental Crawling

Md. Faizan Farooqui1, Md. Rizwan Beg1 and Md. Qasim Rafiq2, 1Integral University,India and 2Aligarh Muslim University, India

ABSTRACT

The size of the internet is large and it had grown enormously search engines are the tools for Web site navigation and search. Search engines maintain indices for web documents and provide search facilities by continuously downloading Web pages for processing. This process of downloading web pages is known as web crawling. In this paper we propose the architecture for Effective Migrating Parallel Web Crawling approach with domain specific and incremental crawling strategy that makes web crawling system more effective and efficient. The major advantages of migrating parallel web crawler are that the analysis portion of the crawling process is done locally at the residence of data rather than inside the Web search engine repository. This significantly reduces network load and traffic which in turn improves the performance, effectiveness and efficiency of the crawling process. The another advantage of migrating parallel crawler is that as the size of the Web grows, it becomes necessary to parallelize a crawling process, in order to finish downloading web pages in a comparatively shorter time. Domain specific crawling will yield high quality pages. The crawling process will migrate to host or server with specific domain and start downloading pages within specific domain. Incremental crawling will keep the pages in local database fresh thus increasing the quality of downloaded pages.

Web Image Retrieval Using Visual Dictionary

Umesh K K1 and Suresha2, 1 S J College of Engineering, India and 2Mysore University, India

ABSTRACT

In this research, we have proposed semantic based image retrieval system to retrieve set of relevant images for the given query image from the Web. We have used global color space model and Dense SIFT feature extraction technique to generate visual dictionary using proposed quantization algorithm. The images are transformed into set of features. These features are used as inputs in our proposed Quantization algorithm for generating the code word to form visual dictionary. These codewords are used to represent images semantically to form visual labels using Bag-of-Features (BoF). The Histogram intersection method is used to measure the distance between input image and the set of images in the image database to retrieve similar images. The experimental results are evaluated over a collection of 1000 generic Web images to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system.

Contemporary Semantic Web Service Frameworks: An Overview and Comparisons

Keyvan Mohebbi, Suhaimi Ibrahim and Norbik Bashah Idris, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia

ABSTRACT

The growing proliferation of distributed information systems, allows organizations to offer their business processes to a worldwide audience through Web services. Semantic Web services have emerged as a means to achieve the vision of automatic discovery, selection, composition, and invocation of Web services by encoding the specifications of these software components in an unambiguous and machine-interpretable form. Several frameworks have been devised as enabling technologies for Semantic Web services. In this paper, we survey the prominent Semantic Web service frameworks. In addition, a set of criteria is identified and the discussed frameworks are evaluated and compared with respect to these criteria. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the Semantic Web service frameworks can help researchers to utilize the most appropriate one according to their needs.
